Dear Friends,

Welcome to our web site. UTTERBACK’S has provided heating, cooling and sheet metal products to the Wabash Valley area for four generations. My great grandfather moved to Terre Haute around 1880 and opened his "tin shop", better known as sheet metal to you, on South Third Street just south of our current Courthouse. My grandfather started his "tin shop" at our present location, 1313 Lafayette Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1920 and was active in the business until his death in 1976. Trueman (my father) took over the operation of the business and was the sole proprietor until 1990 when he stepped aside and it was then my turn to provide advanced HVAC services for the Wabash Valley.

As you are well aware, we have seen many changes in our industry. Our family has come from the coal furnace era when we used horses to pull our wagons to the present where we now sell and install high efficiency equipment using a variety of fuels, computerized controls, and as many air purification and moisture controls as you can imagine.

As our industry changes, we will change. We want to be able to provide solutions for your comfort needs tailored to fit your individual desires. Building science proves that one size does not fit all! There is much more to controlling the indoor climate than buying a box that provides hot and cold. We understand the importance of a quality duct system delivering clean conditioned air to every area of your home. We can also test your home to uncover any areas that may be affecting your indoor comfort.

On January 23, 2006, all equipment manufacturers ceased building residential air conditioners and heat pumps that had less than a 13-seer efficiency rating. This change has brought about a need for trained service and installation technicians. We are pleased to employ NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certified technicians. Our city also requires NATE certification as proof of competency in HVAC in order to obtain a city license. All NATE technicians are required to complete continuing education programs to maintain their license. All major equipment manufacturers endorse and support NATE testing.

Indoor Air Quality has become an important issue with almost all homeowners. Whether it is a need for special filtration for an asthmatic child or something much more complicated like a whole house hepa filtered dehumidification system, we understand the importance and will help meet your need. Our duct cleaning division does much more than provide the cleanest possible air distribution. We are members of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association and our technicians are tested and certified through their Air System Cleaning Specialist Program. Continuing Education Classes are also required to maintain their certification as an ASCS (Air System Cleaning Specialist).

Please look through our site. Our goal is to provide our customers with the best possible solutions for their individual needs. Follow our links, we believe in training and have aligned ourselves with some of the very best organizations in this industry. Check them out. These web sites will provide answers to most of your HVAC needs.

Thank you for visiting. If you have any questions, please contact me. I will look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully yours,

Ed Utterback, III
